Program FAQ

Is there disabled access to these meetings?

Yes, all meetings have disability access. There is also a specialty meeting called 'Accessible AA-AA for People with Disabilities" and this is at 4:30pm on Sunday in the Tamborine Room.

Are there any specialty meetings and what are they?

Yes, there are a range of specialty meetings and we will again refer you to the program. They will all take place in the Tamborine Room, which is upstairs, on the same level as the Ballroom.

I prefer smaller meetings, where I will get the chance to share. Is there a continuous meeting?

Yes, the continuous meeting will be held on the ground level, to the right as soon as you walk into the Marriott. It's called the Lagoon Room. It will run from 6:00am to 9:00pm on Saturday and Sunday, but not on Monday.

What is the Public Information and Professional Awareness meeting about?

The main purpose of Alcoholics Anonymous is to carry the message of recovery to the still-suffering alcoholic. One of the most effective ways to ensure that AA is available to all those who need it is by informing the Public and the Professional Community about Alcoholics Anonymous.

The purpose of this PI and PA meeting is to inform medical institutions; religious communities; rehabs; community organisations; legal institutions—any organisation that may be in a position to refer a still-suffering alcoholic to our fellowship—about AA.

We hope that AA members will participate in this by bringing along their doctor, or psychologist or lawyer (or any other professional person or family member)  to increase awareness of AA in the general community.

At the meeting there will be speakers and also an “ask it” basket, to encourage people to ask questions about AA.

Do professionals have to pay to register and attend the Public Information and Professional Awareness meeting?

No.

Are there any fun activities apart from the meetings?

Yes, each morning, Sat, Sun and Mon, we will have an early morning session called Mindful Motion and Sound Bath. Details as follows:

  • 7:00am to 8:am on Saturday 2nd of May, Tamborine Gallery - Meditation and stretching

  • 7:30am to 8:30am on Sunday 3rd of May, Tamborine Gallery - Meditation and stretching

  • 7:15am to 8:15am on Monday 4th of May, Tamborine Gallery - Meditation and stretching

Unwind and restore in this soothing class designed to release tension. You’ll be guided through gentle, mindful stretches that nourish the body and calm the nervous system—perfect for all levels, including beginners. Each session concludes with a crystal sound bowl healing to leave you feeling calm and serene. Bring a towel, covering or something warm, for sound bath.
